Electronic Recycling
Electronic Recycling is offered to ALL York County Residents
at the Penn Township Recycling Center located at 1020 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331
In Pennsylvania certain electronics are restricted by law from being disposed of in the trash due to the toxic metals they contain. The Covered Device Recycling Act (CDNA), Act 108 of 2010, requires the following "covered devices: to be recycled in Pennsylvania:
* Computers
* Computer Peripherals (keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.)
* Computer Monitors
* Televisions
Items Accepted:
* Computers - Devices PC's/Laptops/Servers
* Computer Peripherals - Keyboards, Mice, Printers, etc.
* Computer Monitors
* Televisions of all types (Limit of 5 TVs per resident per visit)
* Audio/Video Devices - CD/DVD/VHS/Blue-Ray Players, MP3 Players, Projectors, Amplifiers, Receivers, Recorders, Stereos, Video Game Consoles, etc.
* Communication Devices - Cell Phones, Smartphones, Telephones, Answering Machines, Pagers, etc.
* Food Preparation Devices - Microwaves, Coffee Makers, Mixers, Blenders, Toasters, etc.
* Healthcare Devices - Blood Pressure Monitors, CPAP Machines (remove mask), TENS Units, etc.
* Networking Devices - Modems, Routers, Servers, Switches, Hubs, etc.
* Power Tools - Drills, Sanders, Saws, etc. that are powered using an electrical cord
* Printing Devices - Printers, Coper/Scanners, Fax Machines, Typewriters, Word Processors, etc.
* Electronic Device Hardware - Circuit boards, Hard drives, Processors, Power Suppliers, Converters, etc.
* Wires and Cables used in the operation of electronic devices
Items NOT Accepted:
* Electronics from businesses, organizations and schools
* Air Conditioners, Dehumidifiers, Freezers, Refrigerators and other devices containing refrigerants
* Electric Motors
* Lava Lamps and other devices containing liquids
* Oil Radiant Heaters/Lamps
* Smoke Detectors
