PROPOSED SEWER RATE INCREASE

Due to the Chesapeake Bay initiative, Penn Township will need to construct $18 million worth of improvements to it's Waste Water Treatment Plant.  The Township will need to borrow this money to finance the project.  This will result in the average residential sewer bill increasing by a minimum of 60%-65%.  A current customer with a bill of $53 per quarter should expect to receive a bill that is at least  $87 a quarter or more.  The initiative was mandated by the Federal government and supported by the State government.  We urge you to send a letter to the governor and your state and federal legislators requesting them to help alleviate the economic pressure this will be putting on you and all the customers in Penn Township and West Manheim Township.  Below are letters to all those elected officials.   If you wish to send a letter just print a copy, sign it and mail it.
