BULK ITEM PICK UP

The Board of Commissioners is instituting a weekly bulk item pickup in lieu of a special day for disposal of these items as in the past.

The program began on Monday, June 2, 2003, each household in the Township will be allowed to place one item per week curbside on the normal refuse and recycling day.  The hauler will make the pickup at the same time they gather your refuse.  The exception to this will be for any recyclable metal products such as appliances and other types of metals.  This material will be picked up the following day with the exception of Friday.  If your normal pickup day is Friday, all acceptable materials will be picked up then.  The hauler has been informed to comply with the procedures established and will not pick up any item that does not comply with the instructions set forth.  As always, the Township will make the final decision as to whether an item is in compliance or not.

It is important to note that any bulk item set curbside must not be so large or heavy that it cannot be safely handled by two individuals.  Remember - one bulk item per week.  A good rule of thumb is: "If it fits in a bag, it should go in a bag!"

All bulk items cannot be put out for curbside prior to 24 hours from pick-up date.

York Waste will only pick up large metal items on Thursdays of each week.  Therefore to have your metal item picked up curbside it will be necessary for you to call the Township at 637-1561 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
