BULK ITEM PICK UP

The Board of Commissioners is instituting a weekly bulk item pickup in lieu of a special day for disposal of these items as in the past.

The Township's bulk item pickup program was established to give residents a convenient method to dispose of LARGE  bulk items.  A good rule of thumb to follow to identify what is NOT  a bulk item is, IF ITS FITS IN A BAG, IT GOES IN A BAG.  Items that are small enough to be placed in a trash bag should not be bundled and placed curbside as a bulk item.  The hauler has been informed to comply with the procedures established and will not pick up any item that does not comply with instructions set forth.  As always, the Township will make the final decision as to whether an item is in compliance or not.  

It is important to note that any bulk item set curbside must not be so large or heavy that it cannot be safely handled by two individuals.  Remember - one bulk item per week.  A good rule of thumb is: "If it fits in a bag, it should go in a bag!"  

Bulk items cannot be put out for curbside prior to 24 hours from pick up date.

Arrangements must be made for the pickup of metal items.  To schedule a metal item for pickup call the Township at 637-1561 before 2:00 on Wednesday for items to picked up curbside on Thursday.    

Acceptable Bulk Item Examples:  

Appliances (metal pickup-please call to schedule pickup)

Carpet (48" maximum length, rolled and tied - one roll per week)

Furniture (one piece per week)

Mattresses and Box Spring

Scrap Metal (48" maximum length - please call to schedule pick up)

Water Heaters (metal pick up - please call to schedule pick up)

Doors

Tile

Windows (less than 48" x 48") 

Wood (max length is 4' - loose wood must be bundled together and cannot weight more than 50lbs)

Non-Acceptable Bulk Item Examples:

NO  GARBAGE!!! 

Household Hazardous Waste 

Batteries (regular household batteries can be placed in the regular refuse bag)

Yard Waste  (grass clippings, shrubs, tree/shrub trimmings,  leaves, sod/tree stumps)

Gravel, dirt, blacktop or concrete

Shingles, Dry Wall

Loose Insulation  (more than one piece must be bundled together)

Tires of any kind (2 tires can go out with regular pickup as long as a Penn Twp bag is tied to them) 

Clothing or Fiber (use the textile recycling at the drop-off center)

Styrofoam 

Large Automobile parts

Televisions, microwaves, small electrical appliances (use recycling drop-off center)

Commercial and/or Industrial waste

Wood longer than 4'

Toys
